Picasa, which is provided by Google for Windows, is an excellent piece of software. I think it is even better than iPhoto. Picasa is very strong in the area of photo adjustments, fixes and corrections. When you open iPhoto filters, you find just simple color effects, but you have no possibility to make corrections, you can just re-balance the colors. With Picasa, you can adjust all the basic components of the photo and very quickly as you immediately see the result you will get. Also, the basic artistic filters are included in the program, which is provided by Google for free.
With Picasa, you can very easily fix the images or you can easily add effects to the photo and as you know it from iPhoto – the original image is not touched. The adjustments and fixes are always done on the copy of the photo.
Unluckily, there is Picasa available just for Windows at the moment. I do not believe, Google will release Picasa also for Mac OS X as there are several agreements between Google and Apple. It is not officially confirmed, but you can find a lot of agreements between Apple and Google on the Internet.
Currently, there is just one add-on for Picasa, which allows uploading photos to the web album directly from iPhoto. That is all you can do as the Mac user with the photos.
I have been looking over the Internet for the supplement – easy adjustment and fixes of photos on Mac OS X, but I had no luck to find an application capable doing that for free. Sure, I can do a lot of adjustments in Photoshop or in any other application provided by Adobe, but I just need to make some simple and basic adjustments and fixes of photos. And I do not want to pay a hell lot of money for just a simple feature.
Do you know any kind of the program capable of making basic adjustments of photos? And to make these adjustment and fixes quickly and with just a single touch?

Yesterday I was also thinking about the same question. There is a better program and faster. Which keep all your photo’s and images on the correct places. It’s called QPict, it’s fast and easy to use. But I still love Picasa more than QPict, it has those smooth effects. Also when my PC worked like hell, it still didn’t stuck at all. But QPict is a nice suplement.
