NeoOffice supports MS Office 2007 file format

04.01.07 | Comment?

NeoOfficeThis week brought the excellent news for the Apple Mac community. NeoOffice is fully compatible with the file format of MS Office 2007 for Windows. It is very important for the future of this office suite, fully programmed in Java - or not fully, just the dependencies with the operating system are done in Java. A new version was released this week, which finally brings the full support for the MS Office file format.

The file format combined with XML is the native format of the newest version of Microsoft Office suite, so it should bring the full compatibility. It is important to notice, that this file format is the first format from Microsoft, which is fully documented and other application are free to use it. This is really excellent news for every single Mac user. Right now, the impact of such a thing is pretty small, but in the near future – it will make Apple Macs more interconnected with the rest of the world. And you can be connected with your fellows for free.

This is very important for the Apple Mac community. NeoOffice is fighting for its place on the hard discs of the Mac users and this will help a lot. When NeoOffice is fully compatible with Microsoft Office, then you have no reason to invest in MS Office 2004.

In the history, Microsoft made a promise to go on in development of the office suite for Apple Macs, but right now – we are on the crossroad – will be the Microsoft Office suite still needed for your Apple. Or will you use the alternative?
