Applications, Mac OS X

You do not like QuickTime Player. Nice Player will make you happy

I do not like a standard QuickTime player delivered with Mac OS X. It is crippled as Apple wants you to buy a more advanced version, but it brings issues, when you need to reinstall the operating system. As Apple wants you to pay for the upgrade again. So, I was looking for a replacement and I definitely found one.

The application is called NicePlayer and it really makes playing movies a fun. It has a lot of features, supports AppleScript to make your own actions and it looks – nice.

NicePlayerNicePlayer fully supports playlists and you can drag files onto the icon of NicePlayer and the movie will be automatically played, when the previous one is finished. It is really simple and not taking too much effort from you.

But, what I really like about the application is the user interface. It is a true Mac OS X application. No icons, nothing to make you lost, just a simple windows with the movie, which can be quickly resized as you want or it can completely disappear. Everything as you need.

And for your fun. The movie can be sent to be played in the background on the desktop. Quickly and easily. Or you can make your movie transparent and watch it over your other applications. But honestly, this is just for fun and demostrates the abilities of Mac OS X.

Just a quick conclusion – no more QuickTime Player.
