NeoOffice – Bye, bye, Sun will bring OpenOffice to Mac OS X
May 4th, 2007 by AndieCZ
Stay calm, but Sun promised to support a native port of OpenOffice to Mac OS X platform. I think, this is really excellent news for us. We have MS Office, WordPerfect Suite and NeoOffice. None of them is perfect. And OpenOffice for free can make a competition more tough.
The situation on the business suite market for Mac OS X is not optimal. The market needs more competition to be sure, the best products are available to customers. We will see, what exactly Sun will do for the OpenOffice to be more friendly to Mac OS X. I hope, OpenOffice will become fully native Apple application without the need to run X11. X11 is great for Linux, but Mac OS X has a better internal solution and it has to be fully utilized.
And today in newspapers – Microsoft and Yahoo are ready for a business wedding. So – Google and Apple should prepare their own business proposal to the audience. Both companies will need a back up for the future as Microsoft is a really heavy competitor.
