iTunes and iLike – they like each other

iLike is quite a new service provided to all the music fans. It is still in its beta phase, which is quite common for all the Web 2.0 services. It is very similar to AudioScrobbler, but I like it more. It is more flexible and it makes my iTunes to be more sexy and useful for me.
The principle is very similar to Last.fm. But when you will start iTunes after installing iLike, you will see a big difference. You will find a sidebar attached to the main iTunes window. So you have no real need to open the Internet browser to find recommendations and songs played by your friends. iLike provides you with the information about recommendations, what your friends are listening to and making possible changes to your personal profile. As you listen to more and more music, the system is able to provide you with better recommendations and you can really find completely new artists you will really love.
The sidebar of iLike looks really great and when the recommendations are shown, you can play them directly by clicking, using the same output as your iTunes. Which means, when your speakers are connected through Airport Express or Airport Extreme base station, it will be played through it. It is really excellent and exciting thing.
The recommendations are just 30 seconds long, but the targeting is really pointing directly to the goal and you will usually like the recommended interpreter, which was sometimes a pain on Last.fm.
To conclude, I quit using Last.fm and I am completely addicted to iLike right now. And as you can see, their widget looks great on your pages (but you have to use Flash).
