To make a back up of your files was not so easy in the past. There is an excellent service available on the Internet – Mozy.
Making back ups on the Mac OS X is very comfortable. You just need to download a tool to use Mozy and to register on their website. After registering, you will receive 2 GB of space for free or you can buy a service with unlimited space for about 5 USD/month.
The data transfers and storage is very secure as you define a key, you want to use for the transfers and storage on the server. The key is more than 400 bits long, so it would take ages to unlock your files.
When the application starts for the first time, you just select what you want to back up. You select not just the folders, but whole items – like iTunes library, iPhoto library, Mail, Keychains. Almost the whole operating system can be stored on the server to get the back up later.
The service is really excellent and uploading the files takes just minutes. Uploading about 200 MB of data was finished within several minutes and the connection was really stable.
Generally, when you need to back up your files and you do not want to have them stored just locally, using Mozy is a great way how to be sure, you will not lose your data.
