Vienna RSS Reader is an excellent open source RSS Reader for Mac OS X, which I can fully recommend. I was looking for the best solution for reading the blog posts on the Internet and I was not satisfied. But Vienna RSS Reader really learned me to add blogs into the reader.
Vienna RSS Reader is a true Mac OS X application. The whole effort to install the application is to copy it into the Applications folder. After installation you can do the basic setup of the reader and then you can start to browse the Internet to start adding the RSS Feeds to the Vienna RSS Reader.

Vienna RSS Browser is an open source application and you can use it for free. But it does not mean, that it is not able to compete with the commercial competitors. The application brings all the standard features and many additional to make your browsing the Net happier:
- you can decide, whether the checking for new posts will be manual or in a given interval, which can be set;
- you can choose the layout of the application – it can be horizontal or vertical, which is then very similar to the window organization of Microsoft Outlook 2003 and honestly – this is extremely comfortable for browsing;
- all the blog posts can be open directly in the reader windows and everything works, including JavaScripts;
- you can import and exports your subscriptions as OPML file to transfer them easily among different readers and websites;
- when you have an article, which is very interesting or you have different plans with it, you can easily make a flag on it to return to it later;
- but – the best feature of Vienna RSS Reader – smart folders, which operate the same way as smart folders in Mac OS X;
When you do not like the standard look and feel of the application, you can choose a different theme, which come with the application. In case you do not like the themes, you can download additional ones from the Internet.
